Homewood, Alabama

The owners of this 1920ís Spanish Revival residence located in Homewood, Alabamaís historic Hollywood neighborhood, lived previously just one block away and theyíd had their eye on this house for some time. One day after finally knocking on the door and making an offer, they found the place was suddenly theirs. Largely untouched over time, the house had great bones, but needed some fine tuning to make it just right. Architect Louis Nequette envisioned an updated floorplan for the home which respected its rich history, but created spaces for entertaining and a spa-like retreat for the homeowners. We designed a new kitchen centered around a hand-built French range and a massive wood-topped island. Throughout the home, clean-lined Modernism and historically inspired details coexist comfortably creating a home that was well worth the wait.
