What do you do when you’ve outgrown your house, but can’t bear to part with your neighborhood? Collaborating with Dungan Nequette Architects, we helped an active family of six re-imagine their home. Priority was given in the renovation to family areas such as an expanded Kitchen large enough for the whole family to gather at once, and a cozy Den wrapped in paint-glazed pecky cypress paneling. Expanded formal areas accommodate the parents’ busy social calendar while a second floor retreat gives the kids plenty of room to hang out as well. A new Master Bedroom addition created a soothing and private oasis while upstairs each child claims a bedroom suite decorated to fit their unique personality and interests. Many would cringe at the thought of so much white upholstery and delicate detail in a house with so much activity, but thanks to commercial-grade fabrics and the thoughtful placement of durable finishes, this home functions as beautifully as it looks.
